LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) -- Officials are investigating a deadly crash that occurred in Laurens County on Tuesday night.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash took place at the 21 mile marker on I-385 Southbound at around 8:43 p.m.

A 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck was heading south when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, overcorrected and crossed back onto the road, officials said.

The driver then ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

Investigators said the driver died at the scene of the crash.

The Laurens County Coroner's Office has not yet shared the identity of the driver who was killed.
