BOYCE, La. (KALB) - A Boyce woman said she feels abandoned after being left without power or running water for more than a month, as she faces a utility bill she cannot afford.
Caroline Deville spent 28 years serving her community as a paramedic. But now, she said she’s the one in need.
“Here I am… needing help and can’t get it, and it sucks the soul out of you,” Deville said.
Earlier this year, Deville entered rehab for treatment. While she was away, she said her soon-to-be ex-husband walked out, leaving behind unpaid bills. When she returned in August, she was hit with more than $2,300 in overdue utilities.
“This is the first time that I’ve ever had a bill this big,” she said.
Deville said she suffers from back problems, is unable to work, and is applying for disability checks.
