EUGENE, Ore. – While Oregon schools have until Oct. 31 to create a cell phone ban policy, some local school districts already decided to implement the Executive Order 25-09 when classes first began; so that they wouldn’t have to change any policies in the middle of the school year.

Springfield and Bethel school districts implemented the ban when students first stepped on school grounds a few weeks ago.

“We made the move to say at the start of the year,” Springfield Public Schools Director of Communications and Community Engagement Brian Richardson said. “All of our schools off and away during the day from kindergarten through 12th grade from bell to bell, really in line with the intent of Governor Kotek's order.”
