A Texas Highway Patrol Trooper died in the line of duty Monday evening while responding to an emergency call. In a media release, the Texas Department of Public Safety identified the officer as Jerry Wayne Adamick Jr.

Details of The Accident

Adamick was driving on FM 945 South, located in San Jacinto County between Coldspring and Cleveland, within the Sam Houston National Forest. He was responding to assist law enforcement partners with an emergency call around 9:15 p.m. on Monday, September 15, when his vehicle went off the side of the road, struck a tree, and caught fire. Trooper Adamick, 44, passed away at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
