Around two million pensioners will miss out on Winter Fuel Payments this year under new Government rules.

The payments are worth up to £300 to help with energy bills and used to be universal for all pensioners.

Last winter, millions were stripped of the support, leaving them up to £300 worse off over winter.

The Government was forced to act following a backlash over the cuts.

This year, around nine million retirees will get the cash boost - but not everyone will benefit.
