A manufacturing facility that's been based in Gastonia for more than 20 years is moving to Cramerton.

Atkinson International, which builds the components that make up brakes for trucks, paid $13.5 million for the 375,000-square-foot building, which is located at 651 Eagle Road, according to company President Claire Atkinson.

The building is close to twice the size of the company's facility in Gastonia, Atkinson said.

"It gives us some room that we can expand our business, because as the job and everything goes along, I can see where there's a lot of potential in the next five years," he said. "We're excited about it."

The move will bring around 60 employees to Cramerton, making the company Cramerton's biggest employer, Cramerton Mayor Nelson Wills said.
