INDIANAPOLIS — A detention deputy was arrested Tuesday morning for allegedly trafficking drugs into the Marion County jail.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office said its intelligence unit "intercepted jail communications referencing a trafficking involving an employee." After an investigation, detectives arrested 27-year-old Bryce Byrdsong, of Indianapolis, when he reported for work Sept. 16.
Court documents say Byrdsong was found with five bundles of suboxone in his locker, as well as marijuana found in his car, the sheriff's office said.
According to court documents, investigators learned of a plan to traffic drugs into the Adult Detention Center through jail phone calls on July 18.
