EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Starting next week, getting around Evansville will be easier for hundreds of residents as the METS Microtransit program expands into Jacobsville.

The expansion will bring affordable, on-demand transportation to more riders in the neighborhood.

The expansion covers just under half a square mile, adding about 800 more people to the service area.

“I think it’s going to be pretty easy. You won’t have to sit at a bus stop and wait, so I think a lot of people are going to like it,” said Hunter Ashley, a Jacobsville resident.

Ashley, who regularly takes the bus, expressed excitement about having more transportation options without long wait times.

“With this expansion, METS Micro now serves more than 66,000 residents across 20.5 square miles,” said Evansville Mayor
