EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The City of Evansville announced the expansion of its METS Micro transit program into the Jacobsville neighborhood, supported by a grant from Deaconess Health System.

The expansion adds 0.4 square miles and 800 residents to the METS Micro service area, now covering a total of 20.5 square miles and serving 66,900 residents. Key destinations such as the Civic Center, Victory Theatre, and Deaconess Midtown Hospital will be more accessible.

Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry emphasized the importance of the expansion.

"Reliable, affordable transportation is a basic need," Terry said. "With this expansion, more Evansville residents can get to vital services, jobs, and schools without added financial strain."
