A woman has shared her ingenious hack for getting people to stop watching loud videos on their phones in public, with her move widely lauded.

The creator named Lu recently took to Instagram to share the moment she became fed up with a stranger playing a video at full volume.

The pair were sitting near each other at what's understood to be a café.

Confronting the man, Lu asked him what he was watching, and when the stranger said it was just a video, she asked if she could watch it with him.

The man said there were only two minutes left of his video, to which she fired back:

"Oh, two minutes? Then you've got time for me to watch then.

"Because I thought you wanted to share what you were watching with us.

"Because we can totally hear it."

That's when the stranger finally got the hint
