FAIRFAX, Va. (DC News Now) -- A large water main break in Fairfax early Wednesday prompted lane closures and traffic delays during the morning commute.

In a post on the X platform just after 7:20 a.m., Fairfax police said the northbound lanes of Blenheim Boulevard were blocked near Ridge Avenue with a detour in place.

As officers direct traffic, officials urge commuters to use alternate routes. As of Wednesday morning, it is not known when repairs to the water main will be completed or when the lanes will reopen.
