A taxi driver was carjacked by a passenger overnight Tuesday after picking him up at a bar and dropping him off outside his Central City home, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Police said the driver dropped the passenger off in the 2800 block of Carondelet Street at around midnight, but the passenger got out of the car and went inside without paying. The taxi driver sat outside the home but was eventually chased off on foot by the passenger, who police said had returned armed with a baseball bat.
The passenger then drove away in the taxi, police said.
Police said they later arrested the passenger but did not release his name.
