MESA, Ariz. — A woman and her two daughters are recovering Wednesday after they were stabbed during an incident in Mesa, the city's police department said.

Officers responded to an apartment complex near Broadway and Dobson roads after reports of an unidentified man entered an apartment and attacked a mother and her two daughters.

Police said the family was asleep when the 16-year-old daughter was attacked. She was able to escape, and officials said it was after that when the mom and 18-year-old daughter were attacked.

The 16-year-old fled to a nearby residence and called for help. According to Mesa police, all the victims were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.
