PHOENIX — A mother and her two teenage daughters were stabbed by an intruder at their Mesa apartment early Wednesday, authorities said.

The suspect in the stabbing remains at large, according to the Mesa Police Department.

An unknown man entered the apartment in the area of Dobson and Broadway roads around 4:30 a.m. while the family was sleeping and attacked a 16-year-girl first. She was able to run off to the nearby home of friends and call police.

The intruder went on to stab the mother and an 18-year-old girl before fleeing the scene.

The victims were treated for their wounds at a hospital and are expected to survive.
