MIAMI — The tropical Atlantic is showing signs of increased activity, with two areas to watch.

Tropical Storm Gabrielle has formed way out in the Atlantic, moving north-northwest at 22 mph and currently has maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.

Gabrielle is expected to continue strengthening over the coming days, becoming a Category 1 hurricane over the weekend. Currently, the storm is no threat to land, but Bermuda needs to keep a close eye on this system, as the island currently falls into the 5-day forecast cone.

Currently, there are no watches or warnings in effect, and no immediate hazards affecting land.
