A motion which urged South Ayrshire Councillors to call out “hateful” and “blatantly racist” campaigns against asylum seekers has been pulled from tomorrow’s meeting.
Ayrshire Live previously told how the motion, proposed by Troon councillor Craig Mackay, and seconded by council leader Brian Connolly, was included in the agenda of tomorrow’s meeting of elected members.
However, the SNP group has claimed the motion has been “unceremoniously annulled” and will “no longer be debated.”
The motion had set out to challenge the elected members to note, with “deep concern” the rise in far-right ideologies, and in particular the “hateful and blatantly racist campaigns” against asylum seekers.
It also sought to voice concerns about the rise of the far-right, and how extreme and
