Former President Barack Obama condemned the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk , calling it an “inflection point” for the nation, while declaring political violence a “threat to us all.”

“Regardless of where you are on the political spectrum, what happened to Charlie Kirk was horrific and a tragedy ,” he said, per the New York Times.

“What happened … to the state legislators in Minnesota, that is horrific,” Obama continued, referencing the assassinations of Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband earlier this year. A second lawmaker, John Hoffman, and his wife were also shot the same night.
