Plans to create a new community hub in Drumchapel are set to move forward, as Glasgow City Council intends to takeover Garscadden House.

A £285,000 deal which would see the tenants Jobs & Business Glasgow — one of the council’s arms-length organisations — renounce its lease of the offices is proposed.

The two-storey building, on Garscadden Road, would then be repurposed for use as a community hub, which the council has hoped to provide in the area for a while.

Councillors will be asked to approve acquiring the tenants’ interests in the property at a meeting tomorrow (Thursday).

A report to councillors states there are plans for Garscadden House to feature a relocated local library. Further community use of the building would also be encouraged.
