LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lincoln Police Department is investigating a hoax swatting call at Lincoln Northeast High School Wednesday morning.

Police said the school’s office received a phone call at 8:22 a.m. from an unknown person that vaguely stated there was a potential weapon and hostage situation in a classroom and then hung up.

The School Resource Officer immediately began investigating along with several other police officers who arrived to assist with securing the school. LPD said the school was cleared and no evidence of anyone with a gun or threats were located.

Liz Miller, principal for Northeast High School said in a letter to parents that students were notified of the investigation and offered support.
