(WJBF) - On July 31, the Senior Citizens Council in Augusta closed its doors.
After decades in operation, federal budget cuts forced the organization to shut down. The programs on which hundreds of seniors rely became victims of the budget chopping block. Volunteers were let go and the furnishings were sold off.
Then out of the blue, funding was restored.
Executive Director Kathleen Ernst sat down with Mary Morrison Wednesday on NewsChannel 6 at Noon to talk about the need for volunteers.
