BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — This week, a man from Lakota was seriously hurt when he was hit by a truck tractor with a trailer. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, along US Highway 2.
Troopers say a 37-year-old man from New York was driving a Volvo semi-truck east on US Highway 2 near Lakota. Investigators say the 83-year-old man from Lakota was heading south on Highway 1 and crossed the eastbound lanes of Highway 2. The Volvo then struck him, and both vehicles ended up in the south ditch.
Troopers say the man from New York was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. The Lakota man was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered what NDHP calls serious injuries; he was transported to a hospital in Grand Forks.
