After more than seven weeks away from the field, Patriots star cornerback Christian Gonzalez participated at the start of Wednesday’s practice.

Gonzalez had been sidelined by the hamstring injury he suffered during a training camp practice on July 28. Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said before Wednesday’s practice he expected Gonzalez to “do some things,” indicating the 23-year-old will be limited in his return.

It is unclear if Gonzalez will play in Sunday’s home game against Pittsburgh. He did not comment Wednesday when asked about the possibility in the locker room, saying he was only focused on practice.
