WATERLOO, Iowa — A historic church in downtown Waterloo requires more than $2.3 million in repairs after a partial roof collapse.

The Queen of Peace Church has closed its main area to the public, with services now held in the basement. Engineers have determined the repair costs exceed what insurance can cover.

The church is awaiting guidance from the Archdiocese of Dubuque on how to proceed.
