A lot of items were approved at a busy Sept. 17 meeting of the NJSIAA executive committee, including a new district and region alignment for wrestling , an increased wrestling match limit from 30 to 33 individual matches (for one season only) and a new statewide basketball mercy rule that triggers a running clock if a team takes a 35-point lead in the second half.

Earlier in the meeting, NJSIAA Executive Director Colleen Maguire noted the rise in participation in boys and girls volleyball and went over the fact that the girls volleyball state tournament will be best-of-five matches this fall.
