Alexandria, VA – A vehicle crashed into a light pole early Wednesday morning in Alexandria, triggering power outages and forcing a major road closure that is expected to last through the day.

Police say the single-vehicle crash happened on West Braddock Road, between Fontaine and East Timber Branch Road. The impact brought down a light pole and knocked out electricity in the surrounding area.

Crews from Dominion Power responded to the scene shortly after the incident. As of Wednesday morning, West Braddock Road remained closed in both directions while workers addressed the damage and worked to restore power.
