BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A new affordable housing complex officially opened in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, offering safe and affordable homes for seniors in the community.

The 60-unit mixed-use building at 778 Myrtle Avenue includes 24-hour security, a laundry room, community spaces, and a roof garden, with referrals coming from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and Housing Connect lottery.

Tenant Terrance Adams, who has lived in the building since July, shared his story of overcoming homelessness and addiction to find stability in his new studio apartment.

"I’ve been homeless, I’ve been a drug addict, sleeping on the street, eating out of garbage cans, and now to finally make it to this level of achievement," Adams said.
