Just two weeks after its launch in Australia, the Skoda Elroq electric SUV already has a new, cheaper variant on the way, which will shift the starting price down to $47,990 before on-road costs.

The Elroq launched in August with two grades – the 85 Select for $54,990 and 130 Years Edition costing $64,990 – but now a more affordable 60 Select version is due in November, price-matching a Kia EV3 entry grade and above a $44,990 BYD Atto 3 Premium.

The 60 Select variant will closely match the identically named grade in the larger Enyaq that is due at the same time, with both using a 63kWh battery paired with a single rear
