LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Officials with the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) are warning Arkansans about attempts to obtain their personal financial information through a phishing scam.

A news release stated that a text scam is circulating in several states, including Arkansas, asking for accurate account information so the state can deposit money.

The messages look as if they come from a government agency or taxing authority, but are in no way legitimate, according to DFA officials.

They may suggest that immediate action is required to obtain the money.
