Waterloo Regional Police will soon be scattering 52 closed circuit TV cameras across 10 locations in the region.
Deputy Chief Jen Davis told the police services board Wednesday the locations of the cameras are based on a three-year review of crime and calls for service data, and areas with increased crime and high victimization rates.
She said locations will be posted on the police website before the cameras go up and signs will also be posted in areas with the CCTV cameras, including a QR code directing people to the police website, to let the public know they are present.
