The Paradise Valley Police Department has received the green light to purchase almost $400,000 in new radio equipment that will keep residents, dispatchers and officers reliably connected for another decade.
The department’s current radio consoles were purchased in 2015 and are operating on Windows 10, which is approaching end-of-support.
“Our Motorola radio consoles are coming up on their end of life. Our current system is 10 years old and with the support of the aging equipment, a necessary refresh is needed to maintain the reliability of it,” PVPD Chief Freeman Carney told the Paradise Valley Town Council. “The end of support worries me. I just don’t want it to get to a point where it’s not working. We’re due for a refresh, which will give us another 10 years from now.”
