BOSTON (WPRI) — Massachusetts released its own COVID-19 vaccine guidance for 2025-2026 on Wednesday to bolster the state's efforts to protect access to the shot.

The state's guidance recommends the latest vaccine for the following groups: • Adults • Children ages 6 to 23 months • People who are pregnant or lactating • People with higher exposure risk • People who are immunocompromised

Gov. Maura Healey's office noted that the guidance is based on "extensive review of current scientific data and aligns with professional society recommendations."

The federal Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) is scheduled to meet on Thursday and Friday to develop national vaccine recommendations. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also has yet to finalize
