Arkansas State Police stand ready to assist Tennessee law enforcement carry out President Donald Trump’s occupation of Memphis, according to a spokesperson for the state police.

Trump signed an order Monday establishing a federal task force and authorizing the deployment of the Tennessee National Guard to Memphis to combat crime, despite crime rates dropping in the city this year .

The order authorizes the “Memphis Safe Task Force” to request operational assistance and coordination from law enforcement agencies both inside and outside of Tennessee. It names the Arkansas State Police and allows the task force to request assistance from “other federal, state and local officials as appropriate.”
