SWEETWATER, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Police in Sweetwater are warning residents about a scam where someone is trying to sell fake “valuable rings” at local gas stations.
Sweetwater police have received reports of an individual approaching people at gas stations and asking them to buy a "valuable ring" in exchange for money to get back on the road. However, when buyers later take the ring to a pawn shop, they find out it has no real value.
The Sweetwater Police Department is reminding the public of common scam tactics, which often include: • Deals that seem “too good to be true” • High-pressure sales that rush you into a decision • Refusal to show documentation or proof of authenticity
