U of I researchers measure the state's water consumption through agriculture

Idaho ranks third in the nation for its total water use -- using more than 17,000 million gallons per day. A large proportion of this water (86%) irrigates over 3.5 million acres of crops, including potatoes. Given its importance, researchers at University of Idaho are helping maintain and improve the viability of irrigated agriculture in the state.
