It had been more than a month since Trevor Penning played football in any capacity, and that was evident to his New Orleans Saints teammates when they saw him back on the practice field Wednesday — in a good way.
“A lot of guys came up to me like, ‘You’re way more giddy than usual,’” Penning said.
Penning practiced for the first time since he suffered a turf toe injury in the Saints’ August 10 preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. He opened training camp as the team’s starting left guard , but ceded the position to veteran Dillon Radunz while he recovered.
