Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)–A change of leadership Wednesday at the SC Election Commission.

According to a statement from Commission Chairman Dennis Shed, the commission voted to remove Howard Knapp as Executive Director effective immediately.

Shed says the decision was made out of a desire for new leadership and unrelated to the conduct of any election in South Carolina.

Chief of Staff Jenny Wooten will serve as Interim Executive Director.

Knapp had served as the commissions executive director since 2022.
