CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - A Cedar Rapids man was sentenced to federal prison after shooting a person during a failed drug deal.

In April, 25-year-old Seth McGraw, of Cedar Rapids, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of a gun in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and possessing an unregistered gun.

The shooting took place during a drug deal involving McGraw and one of his clients in August 2024. McGraw met the client in a business parking lot in the 6600 block of Kirkwood Boulevard Southwest.

The client handed McGraw money, and McGraw then proceeded to give him a quarter pound of marijuana in return. Once the client received the drugs, he grabbed his money back from McGraw and exited the vehicle.
