MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — The main turf at Vale Sports Club in Middletown has a new sponsor.

"Middlesex Health Stadium" was officially dedicated Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Some new banners throughout the complex will bear the health system's name as part of an effort to serve Vale's athletes and their families.

"This whole development is really incredible -- I saw it from when it was just an auto-CAD drawing to when they were clearing the land to now, there's three soccer fields," Leland McKenna, vice president of planning & external affairs for Middlesex Health, said. "Middlesex Health is just very proud to be a sponsor."

More than 1,200 athletes are currently registered for Vale's program offerings in Middletown, Cheshire and Coventry.
