It was never a likely scenario, but any chances of the Calgary Flames bringing back Dillon Dube were shut down on Wednesday afternoon.

Dube, who logged 327 games with the Flames over the course of six seasons, took a leave of absence from the organization partway through the 2023-24 campaign. Not long after, it was confirmed that he, Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, and Cal Foote were charged with sexual assault stemming from an incident in 2018.

All five players have since been acquitted. The NHL has announced that it will be able to sign contracts as soon as Oct. 15 but will remain suspended until Dec. 1 .
