MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - The Mesa County Coroner's Office announced the identity of the driver who died in a Sept. 9 crash on U.S. Interstate 70.
Michael Stephen Amann, 66, of Santa Monica, California, was the restrained driver who struck another vehicle on the eastbound lane of I-70 near mile marker 7. He sustained injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the coroner's office.
Colorado State Patrol previously told WesternSlopeNow that the crash started when a Lexus broke down on the side of the interstate, which partially blocked the left lane. The driver also activated their hazard lights, a spotlight and flares.
