MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) – The air around Stocker Stadium in Grand Junction was filled with the sound of music on Wednesday night, as all four D51 high school marching bands took to the field to show off their competitive field shows.

Just as football has their gamedays, marching bands have their competition days, and although the "Valley Bands" event wasn't a scored show, it will lead right in to the thick of competition season for these marching bands.

"For the next three or four weeks, [the schedule] is pretty heavy with show after show," said Fruita Monument High School Band Director Ryan Crabtree. "Between football and competitions and then culminating at state at the end of October."
