EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A motorcyclist was issued a $70,000 bond following a crash that left a woman with major injuries.

Miguel Angel Garcia, 40, was scheduled for an arraignment at 2:30 p.m. at the Edinburg Municipal Court, where he was formally charged with intoxication assault.

He was issued a total bond of $70,000.

Background

At approximately 2:25 a.m. on Tuesday, Edinburg police responded to a major crash at the 5500 block of South I-69C in the northbound lanes.

At the scene, authorities discovered that a BMW motorcycle, driven by Garcia and a passenger, had crashed into the rear of a blue Ford SUV, according to a news release from Edinburg PD.

The impact of the crash caused both the driver and the passenger of the motorcycle to be ejected.
