A 21-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on a manslaughter charge in an August crash in Northeast Portland that killed one man and involved the driver of a tractor trailer.

Police said Jayden Calkins was allegedly driving a Lime e-scooter on Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at Holladay Street when he struck a passing tractor trailer. Gerardo Ortiz Henriquez, 24, was riding on the back of the scooter and died in the Aug. 17 crash .

Police have not described how the crash happened or what role the driver of the tractor trailer played. But an indictment filed on Friday alleges that Calkins was drunk. He was charged with second-degree manslaughter, driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving.
