Police are investigating after a local bar in Gloucester was broken into and ransacked over the weekend.

At 7 a.m. Sunday, police were notified of the break-in at The Rhumb Line on Railroad Avenue and found evidence of forced entry, according to a spokesperson for the Gloucester Police Department.

Owner Fred Shrigley has offered a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

“It’s a sad day in the neighborhood when someone breaks into the Rhumb Line and steals booze and trashes the place,” Shrigley wrote on his Facebook page .

Nine bottles of liquor were stolen and there were “numerous smashed bottles and destroyed property” inside the establishment, police said.
