A 16-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl were charged with carrying a machine gun after they were pulled over in Dorchester on Tuesday morning, police said.

Officers stopped the vehicle after the driver allegedly failed to stop at the intersection of Dewey and Dacia street s at approximately 2 a.m., police said in a statement.

As officers approached the vehicle, they noticed passengers in the backseat “making movements before abruptly stopping upon seeing them,” police said.

After ordering the occupants out of the vehicle, officers found the 16-year-old was carrying a high-capacity feeding device in his right jacket pocket. The girl was carrying a 9mm gun equipped with a large-capacity feeding device, police said.

No ammunition was found, police said.
