Democrats release their own funding proposal as government shutdown looms

Democrats laid out their own government funding extension plan Wednesday, as they continued to indicate that they’re ready to oppose a GOP spending proposal to avert a shutdown on Oct. 1.

The Democrat-written measure would extend Affordable Care Act subsidies put in place under the covid-19 pandemic, restore funding that has been frozen by the Trump administration and reverse the cuts to Medicaid enacted under the GOP’s tax and immigration bill.
