Millions of Facebook users will soon receive their share of a $725 million sum as the platform settles a years-long data and privacy lawsuit .
The lawsuit , which was raised against Facebook’s parent company Meta Platforms, Inc. in 2018, charged that Meta allowed third-party developers to access users private information .
The lawsuit accuses Facebook of sharing user data with political marketing firms such as Cambridge Analytica to target voters in the 2016 presidential election, USA Today reports .

To qualify for a portion of the payment, users must have had a Facebook account in the U.S. between May 2007 and Dec. 2022. However, the window to file a claim closed August. 25, 2023.
