As Markham gears up to host the NTT IndyCar Series next year, commuters who use Unionville GO station will have to brace for disruptions, including the closure of hundreds of parking spaces.
Mayor Frank Scarpitti told CBC Toronto the first phase of construction will cause the most disruption.
"We are doing this construction in phases, trying to minimize the impact for the commuters," Scarpitti said Wednesday. "What we're entering into now is phase one. And phase one will have the greatest impact."
GO Transit said 150 parking spaces will be closed this week, and as construction continues, 690 parking spaces will be close in the main lot.
