LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A Louisville couple's birthdays and anniversary just got a little sweeter as the dates helped them win big playing the Kentucky Lottery.

The couple purchased a Cash Ball 225, using their birthday and anniversary dates. Those dates ended up matching the four white ball winning numbers on their ticket.

“What I loved about our win is the numbers that we won on were the numbers that I picked,” the wife said. “His birthday. My birthday and our anniversary date.”

Lottery officials said the couple didn't realize they won the top prize of $225,000 until three days after the Aug. 22 drawing.

The husband wasn't convinced when they first checked the tickets.
