COLUMBUS, Ohio—State elected officials and judges with a concealed-carry permit would be allowed to carry concealed handguns into the Ohio Statehouse and other government buildings, under newly introduced legislation in the Ohio House.
House Bill 460 , introduced by Republican state Reps. Thad Claggett of Newark and Bernard Willis of Springfield, is the latest attempt by Ohio Republican lawmakers to loosen state restrictions on bringing firearms into public buildings.
Under the bill, state legislators, statewide elected officials, judges, and magistrates would be allowed to carry a concealed handgun into any state or local government facility that otherwise bans them, so long as they show both a valid concealed-handgun license and a photo ID confirming the office they hold.
